Prioritizing Projects in the Era of COVID-19

As expected, most IT departments are being pulled in numerous directions to meet the needs of the COVID-19 crisis. While some partners have indicated work that does not have direct end user impact has continued in a limited fashion, the majority stated that most projects are on hold both in IT and operations in favor of focusing on COVID-related efforts. The biggest challenge is that which is facing them at any given moment. Are the curbside testing capabilities set up? Is telehealth working properly and securely? Is the remote workforce setup and working at capacity? As facilities actively work to support massive expansion in an effort to get ahead of patient surges, everything is a priority all at once. It’s challenging, but – as the saying goes – crisis drives innovation. That certainly seems to be true here.
